What is lust ?
Romans 13.13 : "Let us walk honestly, as in broad daylight, far from excesses and drunkenness, lust and immorality, quarrels and jealousies."
Definition : immoderate taste, research and practice of sexual pleasures, considered immoral.
Hebrews 13.4 : "Let marriage be honored by all, and the marriage bed free from defilement, for God will judge immorality and adultery."
God has made us sexed as beings of desire. Sexuality is not degrading or bestial, it is part of the beauty of the human, it is a controlled and socialized desire. The Bible teaches that the sexual relations that God has given to man and woman are recognized in an official setting that is marriage. It is a public commitment to love for mutual fidelity and mutual help for life. It is the official union of a man and a woman in a transparent relationship approved by God. Having sex outside marriage violates the Word of God and also distorts the relationship between man and woman.
Genesis 2.24 : "Therefore the man will leave his father and his mother, and will cleave to his wife, and they will become one flesh."
The Bible tells us that to unite with a person in a sexual relationship is "to be one flesh", it is an attachment of heart and mind. Sexual misconduct has no affection, no feelings of love. She will never go toward a public commitment to bond for life. It is a conscience deliberately turned towards transgression, it is to be out of wedlock. The dignity of the body is that of the person; he who commits adultery or fornication defiles his soul. Lust dehumanizes and consumes an ephemeral pleasure far from a true attachment based on love.
Matthew 5.29 : "If your right eye is an occasion for you to fall, tear it out and throw it away from you, for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and your whole body should not be thrown into hell.
Just like the soul and the spirit, we are responsible for our body that is part of who we are. The dignity of the body remains that of the person, self-control is important. The sincere love that unites man and woman is exercised before marriage and during marriage, that is what God has established for us. It is a total and definitive gift of one's being for the other, it is an exclusive relationship. The sexual relation is legitimate when it is led by the union of the minds and the hearts through the frame of the marriage, which is the means to preserve the beauty and the purity of the love.
Colossians 3.19 : "Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them.
The modern world wants to destroy ever more the moral order given by God. Our societies trivialize sexual deviance of all kinds. It is clear that fornication called "sexual freedom" by the Devil is a destructive tool. Pornography is deliberately accessible to the youngest, we generalize sexual misconduct, to drive ever more towards a degradation of the beauty of love. We want to teach that "sexual freedom" gives everyone the right to do what he wants. Sexual immorality always leads to an unjust, selfish and ephemeral pleasure. Dignity and good conscience no longer have values in the eyes of the world.
1 Corinthians 6.18 : "Flee sexual immorality: Every other sin a man commits is outside his body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."
Conclusion : the desires of the flesh are human weakness, we must flee all temptations that excite passions and lusts, because they defile the man. Our thoughts, must remain vigilant, if a Christian has succumbed to temptation, he can return to God through repentance. It is obvious that we will have to be sincere with God. We learn from him that we must hold flesh in death, realizing by faith that we are a new creature. The body of the believer is the instrument in which we can glorify God, having been bought at a Grand Prix, we must remain worthy of that belonging.
1 Thessalonians 4.3 : "What God wills is your sanctification, that you abstain from fornication, that every one of you should know your own body in holiness and honesty, without indulging in to a passionate lust, as do the Gentiles who do not know God. "Amen !
