The Origin of Evil

11/03/2018

Who is Satan?

Genesis 3.1 : "The serpent was the wisest of all the animals of the field, which the LORD God made, and said to the woman, Did God really say, You shall not eat of all the trees of the garden ? "

In a fight, we must know the power of the opponent. A bad evaluation of it can lead to defeat. Thus a Christian who underestimates the power of Satan, the enemy of the Lord Jesus Christ and believers, is a Christian in danger. Satan, the "father of lies," knows how to achieve his ends by masking his true face and making men believe that he is only a myth. But the greatest danger is to be frightened by this powerful enemy, forgetting that he has been defeated by the Lord.

1-) The names of Satan.

2 Corinthians 11.3 : "However, just as the serpent seduced Eve with her cunning, so I fear that your thoughts may become corrupted and turn from simplicity to Christ."

In the Word of God, it bears different names: the devil, in Latin "diabolus" the one who divides; who disunites.Beliar, equivalent of the Hebrew Belial, Beelzebub.Satan, which means the accuser of the brothers, the slanderer, the adversary.the old serpent in Hebrew "nahash" because of his cunning, and because he hid behind this animal to seduce Eve in Eden, the dragon, who uses the powers of the world to do evil. the light carrier; the morning star; the brilliant star the son of the dawn, the tempter; the enemy; the prince of this world; the prince of the power of the air; malignant; the God of this century; the bad; These names say a lot about its peculiarities.

2-) Its origins and its history.

John 8.44 : "You have the devil as your father, and you want to fulfill your father's wishes, he was a murderer from the beginning, and he does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth. In him, when he utters lies, he speaks of his own funds, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Lucifer was the second of four Archangels created by God, also recognized by angels as the most beautiful angel of paradise. So, he is called the Morning Star. He was the accomplished form, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. He was Michel's youngest brother and the older brother of Raphael and Gabriel. According to Gabriel, he was God's favorite. He existed before the creation of man. One day he swelled with pride and his heart rose against God willing to take his place: "have not kept their rank" (Jude 6). While seeking the support of his older brother Michel, Lucifer rebelled and unleashed a war in paradise that ended in his disgrace by God. His fall on Earth took with him a third of the angels who had rallied to his cause, becoming the multitude of demons under his authority. Fallen Lucifer becomes Satan, responsible for the evil and corruption of humanity.

1 Timothy 3.6 : "He must not be a new convert, lest he be puffed up with pride and fall into the judgment of the devil."

He provoked the moral fall of man into the Garden of Eden, and he governed him with passions and lusts. He raised the whole world, political and religious, against Christ, to put him to death, and that's when Christ called him the leader of the world. He did not stop fighting against the disciples of Jesus. It is therefore a powerful being, a mind full of wisdom and cunning, whose domination we must not despise, since even the Archangel Michael did not dare to speak against him of judgment.

John 14.30 : "I will not speak with you any more: for the prince of the world cometh, he hath nothing in me...."

Satan also dominates demons or unclean spirits, fallen angels. Like him, they attract men to evil in all its forms. They can also seize the mind and body. All the invisible agents of Satan are also called the powers, the authorities, the rulers of darkness, the spiritual powers of wickedness that are in the heavenly realms.

3-) The power of Satan and demons.

Job 1.6 : "And the sons of God came one day to present themselves before Jehovah, and Satan also came in among them, and the LORD said to Satan, Where are you from, and Satan answered to him? Eternal: To travel the earth and to walk there...."

The Word tells us:

- The Devil is at the origin of sin (John 8.44).

- He seduced Adam and Eve and led them into rebellion (Revelation 19:9).

- He tempts men, seduces them and leads them to sin, he resorts to trickery, to lies (John 8:44).

- He blinds men (2 Corinthians 4: 4).

- He accuses believers before the law and the righteousness of God (Zechariah 3.1).

Ephesians 6.12 : "For we have not to fight against flesh and blood, but against the dominions, against the authorities, against the princes of this world of darkness, against the wicked spirits in the heavenly places."

Demons are powerful. They can be at the origin of historical events, sometimes even phenomena of nature (Job 1.13). However their power is limited, they are not all powerful and are subject to the authority of the Lord. They can not do more than divine permission.

4-) Activity of Satan.

The earth has become the place where he continually exercises his activity, while still having access to heaven to accuse men, and he is the head of the spiritual power of wickedness which is in the second heaven. Scripture, the watch running here and there on the earth and walking there, then coming into the presence of God, seducing men, dragging them into evil, always seeking to thwart the designs of divine grace in favor of the guilty man.

Hebrews 2.14 : "Therefore, since the children participate in the blood and the flesh, he has also participated in it, so that by death he will destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, to say the devil...."

Although he was defeated at the cross, and his defeat made manifest by the resurrection of Christ, Satan is still the prince of this world and does not disarm. Deceiving the unstablished Christians through doctrines and traditions of men. Occult practices explode and become more democratic. The whole world is under its yoke and leads to the most serious sins in banalization. The enemy never rests, wishing more than anything, that a maximum of men be led to perdition.

Ephesians 6.10 : "For the rest, be strong in the Lord, and by his mighty might, be clothed with all the weapons of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil...."

However, since the cross, Satan has lost all authority over the child of God. He has been rendered helpless and, if we resist him, he will flee from us. Let us not forget that the power is in the Lord and that the weapons (the Word of God and the prayer) are at our disposal to fight Satan. Christ has conquered the world, in him we are victorious and walk on all the power of the enemy. Those who do not belong to Christ are slaves of Satan.

5-) Take care and watch.

1 John 3.11 : "For that which was spoken to you, and what you have heard from the beginning, is that we should love one another, and not be like Cain, who was evil, and who slew his brother."

Satan excels in art and the way to penetrate subtly in all intelligence. He can make believe lies, seduce and enslave by sins and addictions. The pleasures of the world, operating as a trap for falling asleep, formatting the man into a self-centered creature, never caring for his neighbor and always wanting more. He also has the ability to turn into an angel of light or any other creature to seduce and deceive the man. His dearest desire and to get away from God. He who is not of God, is the son of perdition.

1 John 2.18 : "Little children, this is the last hour, and as you have learned that an antichrist is coming, there are now many antichrists: by this we know that it is the last hour."

That the believer, warned of the power of the adversary, take care and watch so as not to fall into his traps. As soon as man loses sight of his dependence on God, there is nothing that draws him more than the idea of becoming his own God. This was precisely the sin of Satan who wanted to take the place of God, and it is in this same sin that he would like to train us: pride, the most important sin at the origin of all other sins. Anyone who does not confess Jesus is of the spirit of the antichrist.

6-) The Future of Satan.

Revelation 12.7: "And there was war in heaven, and Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought, but they were not strongest, and their place was not found in heaven. And he was thrown down, the great dragon, the old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceives all the earth, he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Concerning the great tribulation. This event will be the greatest period of unrest that humanity is never known. Satan, knowing that he has little time to follow his work of destruction and deception, will soon have at his service: the antichrist and the false prophet who will be at the head of the new world order and of a single religion. He will give them powers to perform miracles to seduce the world. Many will be seduced and persecute the Christians because it will deny Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20.1 : "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand: and he seized the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him to a thousand years He threw it into the abyss, closed and sealed the entrance above him."

Then will come a period of illusions and omerta that will last three and a half years, before the Glorious return of the Lord for the final judgment. Satan will be thrown alive into the abyss, he will be bound to it for a thousand years. During this time, he will not be able to exercise his harmful power. Once the thousand years are over, Satan will be loosed for a little while for the last trial of man. His captivity will not have changed him, he will immediately seek to mislead men. Then God will put an end to his abominations, he will be thrown into the lake of fire, he will be there forever with the fallen angels and the unfortunate men who will have refused salvation in Jesus Christ.

Conclusion: the fight is not over. Satan deceived himself in his rebellion, and remains subject to God, he is a creature who is the prince of this world for a time, his field of action is limited to what God fixes him. He is not sovereign in his actions, he is neither omnipotent nor omniscient. Jesus stripped the powers and authorities of evil, giving them a show of the Cross of Calvary. The Lord has powerless Satan by breaking the bonds of death for all the children of God. Satan who holds captive sinners, is now himself captive and no longer has power over believers. The resurrection of the Lord on the third day was the testimony and the triumph of the work of God. So Christ is the one who holds the keys to death and life. That the unbeliever, who refuses Jesus for Savior, knows well that he will know the same destiny as Satan: eternal death in the lake of fire.

1 John 4.2: "Acknowledge to this the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth Jesus Christ come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not of God, it is the Spirit of God. Antichrist, whose arrival you have learned, and who is now in the world. " Amen!
