What is the Combat of Faith?
1 Timothy 6.12: "Fight the good fight of faith, seize the eternal life to which you were called, and for which you made a beautiful confession in the presence of a large number of witnesses."
1-) Why the fight of faith?
Christian, it is legitimate to ask why the fight continues? Satan, the prince of this world, constantly seeks to distance us from God. We confess every day our sins, let us not forget that he does not live well in our flesh. The Lord has won at the cross and our position in Christ in the heavenly places is assured. Having received eternal life, we are now servants of righteousness, while the world is walking with blinkers to a point of no return.
Ephesians 2.6 : "He raised us together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."
2-) How to do it?
The fight of faith is based on the principle of authority and domination established by God who is the head of it. It works on the fundamental principle of divine laws. If we use this authority in the name of Jesus these rules and functions are perfect and can not be flouted. God gives us the responsibility and the potential for us to exercise it on all dark forces. The Church of Christ is victorious, it is the law of God.
Ephesians 6.12 : "For we have not to fight against flesh and blood, but against the dominions, against the authorities, against the princes of this world of darkness, against the wicked spirits in the heavenly places."
3-) The fundamental characters of the fight of faith:
by the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the elect are regenerated for a living hope. Perseverance is the basis of a life of faith founded in Christ. It must guide the lives of the children of God and it is especially indispensable in trials and afflictions. Great is the reward to all who do not leave it.
James 1.3 : "Knowing that the trial of your faith produces patience, but patience must accomplish its work perfectly, that you may be perfect and complete, without failing at all."
it requires a deep attachment to the Word of God, based on a growing personal relationship with God. James writes that we must first submit to God before we hope to resist Satan. Observe and meditate on the Word of God and the enemy will flee away from us. Practically speaking, resisting the Devil means, for example, not watching a T.V chain with obscene scenes or ending an unhealthy relationship, throwing away some books or changing some of the habits the Lord would never do.
James 4.7 : "Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you, come near to God, and he will come near you, cleanse your hands, sinners, cleanse your hearts, unresolved men..."
Hold firm! :
Paul urges us. We are not unaware of Satan's plans. The animosities; divisions; the iniquities .... We must first restore order in our heart and our own home. Communicate peace and love in the assembly, but also in the family, in social relations with Christians as well as with outsiders. We must first sort things out of order. Only then will we be able to hold on by putting on the full armor of God. When we have to stand firm, it is because the victory is already ours, it is up to us not to let it go.
Matthew 5.23 : "If then you present your offering to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering before the altar, and go first to reconcile with your brother; then, come and present your offering .... "
4-) Spiritual weapons in the fight against the forces of evil :
Power and authority :it does not come from our knowledge or from our hands, but from God. This power is transformed into authority over evil spirits, for that we must know the truth: Jesus Christ. If we let His Word penetrate our mind deeply, we will grasp that we can never engage in combat without the Lord. Can we fight Satan the father of lies without the truth?
John 1.17 : "Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ...."
The Name of Jesus Christ :
the disciples of the first century attributed power over demons in the name of Jesus. The agents of Satan are terrified by his Name proclaiming their humiliating defeat on the cross. All the power of God the Father has been revealed in the Name above all names: Jesus Christ.
Luke 10.17 : "And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name."
The Blood of Jesus :
by the blood of his cross, the powers of darkness were shaken. The prince of this world was vanquished by the Lord Jesus Christ. When we take authority over the enemy, through the Sacred Blood of Jesus Christ, the power of redemption is total. By the Holy Spirit we can proclaim freedom, we are cleansed from all sin; justified and redeemed.
Revelation 11.12 : "They overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life until they feared death."
The Word of God :
when the Word of God (Jesus) is rooted in our heart, it prevails against adverse circumstances. This one is compared to "the sword of the Spirit", it is therefore by definition a very powerful offensive weapon. The Lord created all things by the Word in the beginning. It produces what it speaks about in our mind, our soul and our body: life.
Hebrews 4.12 : "For the word of God is living and efficacious, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to separate soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the feelings and thoughts of the heart."
when two or three meet in my name, "I am in your midst," says the Lord, or "and whatever you ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified." We therefore understand that by prayer conditions are met to abide in Christ and that His Word abides in us. The collective prayer is powerful.
John 15.7 : "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
The young :it is a biblical principle, fasting is simply an act of obedience in order to satisfy our soul rather than our body. Fasting and prayer are ways to make us more humble and allow us to live a different life of faith. Fasting does not move the hand of God, but it is of great power, it gives us a new dimension of faith that we would never have imagined. He is a stepping stone, he always gives great victories, by the grace of the Almighty alone.
Matthew 17.21 : "But this kind of demon comes out only by prayer and fasting."
The faith :it is dedication and total trust in the Lord. If not, do not even imagine facing Satan! The shield of faith must be held firmly and very high: resist with firm faith. With God, we are in the victory, so he provided the necessary for it. We can hold it with confidence because the just will live by faith!
Hebrews 11.1 : "Faith is a firm assurance of the things hoped for, a demonstration of things that are not seen."
The Holy Spirit :
Jesus cast out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit, he gives us all the power to drive out the enemy. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. All God's children can use these means of power and authority, and God through them, cast out demons out of the victim.
1 John 4.1 : "You little children are of God, and you have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."
Conclusion : the good fight of faith is always in perseverance and fidelity with our Lord Jesus Christ. The righteous live by faith, he gives his life for the brothers and sisters. We must therefore live in the sound doctrine, the righteousness of God, and the works He has planned for us. Let us stay in humility, to walk with God in our actions, it is important not to be in pride to keep the love of God. Let us hold firm, let's fight this good fight against our carnal nature and support everything!
In the image of the Lord Jesus, let us find our joy in doing the will of God, having his approval, honoring his Name and shining his light around us. The good fight of faith has been given to reject evil, it is a profound change towards the practice of good, we are regenerated by a good conscience and a sincere faith. The good fight of faith is the battle of the conquerors, it is a pure heart directed towards the gospel of Christ.
Mark 11.23 : "Truly I say to you, if anyone says to this mountain, Get out of there and throw yourself into the sea, and if he does not doubt in his heart, but believe that what he says he will come, he will see it come to pass, therefore I say to you, All that you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and you will see it fulfilled. " Amen!
